as posted by the channelGhana, which exited a 21-day lockdown on April 20, 2020, has enlisted private companies to help fight the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
These include U.S.-based Zipline, a drone company delivering Covid-19 test samples to testing centers, and protective gear to frontline health-care workers.
Zipline announced it had begun delivering virus test samples from outlying areas back to Ghana's capital Accra, drastically cutting down the time it takes for health-care workers to receive test results.The company also said the service is cheaper than transporting the samples by car.
Zipline says its drones now can fly test samples collected from patients in more than 1,000 health facilities located in difficult to reach rural areas of Ghana.
Ghana's government has also enlisted five woman-run businesses to produce masks, including Sleek Garments in Accra.
"This is an industry that generates lots of jobs for women," Sleek Garments CEO Nora Bannerman told QuickTake by Bloomberg.
"We've taken them through the protocols of protecting themselves and everybody else around them, but these are job opportunities," she said.
President Nana Akufo-Addo said in a recent broadcast speech said that mask-wearing is strongly recommended even as the lockdown is lifted.
