Many living in Nairobi's Kibera neighborhood lost their jobs and income because of the lockdown measures. Hence, they now have trouble feeding their families.
Judy Wanjugu says this initiative is helping her feed her 3 children and elderly dependent. $15 is enough to feed a family for a week. Donors can send money to families through mobile banking services. Local donors also collect and hand out groceries and vital supplies.
Kenya's economy is facing increased difficulties as the virus disrupts agriculture and tourism, which are the biggest foreign-exchange earners in the country.
