According to the National Bureau of Economic Research paper there are two reasons this recession is harder for women than men. The first is that the crisis has hit sectors where women's employment is concentrated like retail, hospitality and even healthcare. The second reason is the closure of schools and daycares, which adds pressure to working mothers.
Data points to how women and especially minority women, have been economically impacted more than men. Historically, disruptions like this have lead to lasting social and economic change.
