Bloomberg reporter Sylvia Westall checked out the social distancing measures in place and took a look inside the Atlantis hotel where facilities are open to domestic tourists. She also took a trip to a public beach, where masks are mandatory when our of the water and those who violate could face a fine of around $800.
The travel industry is a huge driver of Dubai's economy. Struggling through the pandemic, it is trying to get back on its feet. Inviting locals is a way to test social distancing precautions and generate revenue whilst the city remains closed to international travelers.
