As one of the many inequalities exposed by the pandemic, the provision of homes for the homeless became even more pressing as Covid-19 spread through the community. One solution - a tent community set up in a parking lot in Arizona - aims to provide users with the ability to isolate from away from those who might be infectious.
But for many adults experiencing homelessness, it's the heat rather than coronavirus that's concerning. Covid hasn't affected the homeless population as much as had been predicted at the start of the crisis, but the extreme temperatures are an issue for those living on the streets. Charities are calling for action to protect those without permanent accommodation.
So far, the pandemic has left millions of Americans unemployed, which could put 250,000 more people on the streets by the end of 2020.
