Speaking at a White House news conference, Trump highlighted a surge in COVID-19 cases in Europe to make the case that the United States is faring well.

The president also announced that U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to Qatar Thursday evening for the beginning of the Afghan peace negotiations.
