0:50Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump traveled to Ohio Monday evening, looking to rally supporters in a key election swing state.
In an event on the tarmac of the Dayton airport, Trump said he's "working very hard on getting a third Supreme Court justice" to fill the vacancy left after the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Trump said he plans to announce his nominee on Friday or Saturday, saying the only thing he'll say ahead of time is that he'll choose a woman.
"It will be a brilliant person," Trump said, adding,"It will be a woman."
Trump then went on to attack his opponent, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden for being a "globalist" who "betrayed" working people.
"On November 3rd, we must turn the page forever on the failed, corrupt political class, that's what it is. They get so much things that are so unfair to the rest of our country, and that's why they're always with that top level of Democrat but the workers are with us," Trump said.
Trump credited himself with boosting manufacturing in the state prior to the pandemic and warned of economic devastation if Biden beats him in six weeks
But Republican lawmakers and strategists in Ohio say they are seeing research that shows Trump is faring worse than four years ago in communities in essentially all suburban areas around Ohio, from its major cities to its several mid-size metro areas.
Ohio has long been a bellwether. No Republican has won the White House without carrying the state since the advent of the modern two-party system, and no Democrat has since 1960.
