1:06Now PlayingWildfire evacuees in California Wine County are returning to what's left of their homes.
Nikki and Kevin Conant, both 52, only had minutes to get out Sunday as a wall of fire descended on their Santa Rosa home.
They returned for the first time Wednesday to find both the house they've rented for the past decade and virtually all of their belongings destroyed.
Nikki sobbed when she spotted her burned chicken coop. Her twelve beloved chickens all died in the fire.
Their business and all of Kevin's tools were also destroyed in the fire. The couple repurpose old wine barrels into custom made furniture.
They had no insurance.
They said their landlord told them she'll eventually haul a trailer for them to live on the property while the home is rebuilt.
In the meantime, the couple is staying in a hotel in nearby Sonoma.
So far a GoFundMe campaign has raised about five thousand dollars to help the couple make ends meet.
This most recent wildfire in Sonoma and Napa counties has burned at least 80 homes along with winery installations and other buildings.
