2:50Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump sought to appeal to the nation's senior citizen population Thursday, in another new video released on Twitter.
Speaking on the White House South Lawn, Trump started the video by addressing his "favorite people in the world, the seniors."
"I'm a senior, I know you don't know that," Trump said. "Nobody knows that...but I'm a senior."
He went on to say he wants them to be able to receive the same level care he got at Walter Reed, as well as the same medicines and therapeutics.
"You're gonna get the same medicine. You're gonna get it free. No charge. And we're gonna get it for you soon," Trump said in a campaign push less than a month before the November 3 election.
President Donald Trump has touted his drug therapies as the reason behind his quick coronavirus recovery. The president's doctors have said he has taken a combination of an experimental antibody treatment along with the antiviral drug Remdesivir and a steroid, Dexamethasone.
Experimental antibody drugs are among the most promising therapies being tested for treating and preventing coronavirus infections. But they’re not cures and it’s not likely that everyone will be able to get them as Trump has suggested.
Two companies are asking the U.S. government to allow emergency use of their antibody drugs, which aim to help the immune system clear the virus. The medicines are still in testing; their safety and effectiveness are not yet known.
A number of recent polls show Biden leading Trump among the senior population, which makes up a large percentage of voters in some crucial swing states, like Florida.
