On October 6, New York Gov Andrew Cuomo ordered nine New York City neighborhoods to return to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions. According to CBS, all nine neighborhoods have a large Jewish population. Gov Cuomo’s announcement fell in the middle of the Jewish holiday Sukkot.
The announcement prompted protests which featured crowds of people blocking roads and reportedly burning masks in the street.
