Around 6,300 tickets were available in the 33,000-capacity stadium, which were give through a lottery. More than 3 million people applied for a chance to win a seat. Fans who didn't get a seat stood outside the stadium, hoping to get in.
South Korean team DAMWON Gaming won the final match against Chinese team Suning. Around a million people watched the game online on Riot Games' two main channels on Twitch and YouTube.
According to a Newzoo Global esports market report, last year, the League of Legends World Championship was 2019’s biggest tournament by live viewership hours on Twitch and YouTube with 105.5 million hours. Globally, the total esports audience will grow to almost half a billion people this year. Sports revenues will soar $1.1 billion in 2020. China is the largest market by revenue, with total revenues of $385.1 million in 2020.
