1:04Now PlayingThe ballot counting in the battleground state of Nevada will not be fully complete until November 12th, accorting to the Clark County registrar, who held a news conference Thursday to provide an update on the process.
Democrat Joe Biden currently holds a very narrow lead in the state, which is continuing to count thousands of outstanding ballots.
Gloria told reporters "a bulk" of the counting will be done over the weekend, with results available on Saturday or Sunday. But he said under Nevada law, the last day ballots can be tabulated and entered into the system will be Nov. 12, so the counting will not be "complete" until then.
"Our goal here in Clark County is not to count fast," Gloria said. "We want to make sure we are being accurate. The results in the state of Nevada obviously are gonna be very important to the entire country and that is our number one goal."
Gloria says Clark County has at least 63,262 ballots left to count, including 34,743 returned in drop boxes on Election Day and 4,208 returned via the U.S. Postal Service. But as mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day continue to trickle in, Gloria said he had no way of knowing the total number of outstanding ballots.
Two days after the election, Nevada remained one of several key states that were too early to call, along with Pennsylvania, Georgia, and North Carolina.
