8:57Coronavirus infections in the U.S. have already surpassed 1 million in the first 10 days of November alone, data compiled by Bloomberg show. The U.S. has seen more than 100,000 cases for six straight days.
Texas’s Covid-19 caseload topped 1 million as the second most-populous U.S. state contends with some of the worst local outbreaks of the pandemic’s latest wave. Nationwide, infections exceeded that amount in the first 10 days of November alone, while hospitalizations have reached a record.
A resurgence of cases and deaths continued in Europe, with Germany reporting its highest daily fatalities since mid-April. A state premier warned that German Christmas markets and religious services may be in jeopardy with the current rate of infection.
The developer of Russia’s flagship vaccine said it shows a 92% efficacy rate in preventing infections, as the country pushes for a top slot in the virus fight after Pfizer Inc. reported a similar breakthrough. In Asia, a travel bubble that will let people move between Singapore and Hong Kong will begin operating on Nov. 22.
