1:03Now PlayingHeavy rainfall caused roadways in Charlotte, North Carolina, to flood on Thursday morning, November 12, stranding vehicles and making some streets completely “impassable,” local reports said.
The Charlotte Fire Department said on Twitter that 143 people had been rescued and that the flooding had forced the evacuation of a charter school. This footage shows vehicles submerged on the 9500 block of David Taylor Drive in Charlotte.
The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Cabarrus, Gaston, and Mecklenburg counties. Officials sent an alert warning residents of the “dangerous and life-threatening” flooding and discouraged any attempt at travel in the affected areas.
