Others called for a boycott. Many of them said Nike was being unfair and exaggerating the extent of racism in Japan.
Osaka, who was born to a Japanese mother and a Haitian father, has been largely embraced in Japan but has experienced racism publicly, including an ad that whitewashed her skin.
