1:40Now PlayingNew York state will set up 90 regional distribution centers capable of cold storage to distribute the coronavirus vaccine once it is procured by the federal government.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters Wednesday that the vaccines will be sent "where we ask them to send it." Cuomo said the state will set priorities for "not only where it goes, but who gets it as the first set of priorities."
Cuomo said New York is expecting an initial allocation of 170,000 doses. He said they could begin arriving as soon as this weekend.
Cuomo also said the state has written a letter to Congress seeking additional federal aid.
"I am telling you: We cannot close this financial gap without federal aid, and that's what the letter to Congress says."
