1:27Now PlayingSir David Attenborough addressed the United Nations Security Council on Tuesday stressing the dangers of climate change on global security.
Attenborough, who has narrated several documentaries on Earth and its resources told the council that the world is "perilously close" to temperature tipping points that will send global temperatures spiraling "catastrophically higher."
"No matter what we do now, it's too late to avoid climate change. And the poorest and most vulnerable, those with the least security, are now certain to suffer."
Attenborough's appearance came as member states gathered to discuss threats to international peace and security posed by climate change and the relation between climate and conflict.
"Perhaps the most significant lesson brought by these last 12 months has been that we are no longer separate nations, each best served by looking after its own needs and security," Attenborough added.
