The Pontiff said he cannot disappoint the Iraqi people who have been waiting for this visit for so long.
"In the land of Abraham, together with other religious leaders, we will make one more step forward toward the brotherhood of believers," Francis said.
During the audience, held without public in the Apostolic Palace instead of Saint Peter's square due to COVID-19 restrictions, Francis made also a strong appeal for peace and reconciliation in Myanmar, asking for the liberation of imprisoned political leaders.
