Ginsburg became a feminist icon for her legal successes in cases that advanced women's rights. She died on Sept. 18 after a long battle with cancer. She would have turned 88 on March 15.
Ginsburg's death, six weeks before the presidential election injected another generational fight to an election year that already featured the deadliest public health threat in a century, the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression and the most significant civil unrest since the civil rights era.
