1:08Now PlayingPresident Joe Biden’s Labor Secretary, Marty Walsh, has taken the oath of office one day after he was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in a bipartisan 68-29 vote.
Vice President Kamala Harris administered the oath.
Walsh a former union worker, 53, was the Democratic mayor of Boston starting in 2014.
He resigned Monday evening and Kim Janey became Boston's first female and first person of color to take the office.
Walsh has a long history with labor, he served as president of Laborers Local 223 and, before becoming mayor, headed up the Boston Building Trades Council, a union umbrella organization.
