4:48Now PlayingChina’s Communist Party marks its 100th anniversary this year, sparking a rise in red tourism as post-Covid travel returns.
Red tourism is particularly important in a place like Jiangxi province where there are important historical sites, including museums and battle sites. These red sites are at the heart of a booming tourism industry that has red heritage at its core.
Red tourism helps the party in several ways. It reaffirms the party's brand in the minds of the people. It reminds people of the sacrifices that were made to bring China to where it is today. And it also forges the link in people's minds that today's modern China would not have been possible without the party.
The government is trying to highlight the origins of the party to show a common thread that dates back to the late 1920s, encouraging people to study the history, know the party and understand more about its role in creating modern China.
