as posted by the channelThe White House says it is offering assistance to the world's largest meat processing company, JBS, after a cyberattack crippled the Australian-based company.
JBS USA said in a statement Monday that it was the target on Sunday of an “organized cybersecurity attack” affecting some of its servers supporting its North American and Australian IT systems.
White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said during an in-air gaggle Tuesday aboard Air Force One that the White House and the Department of Agriculture have spoken to JBS leadership "several times in the last day" to offer support.
She said "JBS notified the administration that the ransom demand came from a criminal organization likely based in Russia."
Jean-Pierre said the administration is "engaging directly with the Russian government on this matter and delivering the message that responsible states do not harbor ransomware criminals."
