0:52Now PlayingAn entire town in British Columbia was ordered to evacuate as a wildfire swept through on Wednesday, June 30, with ash and smoke reducing visibility along the streets, dramatic video shows.
Local media reported that Lytton was under full evacuation order, with the town’s mayor saying, "A number of places on Main Street are on fire.”
On June 29, Lytton recorded a temperature of 49.6 degrees Celsius (121 Fahrenheit), the third time in three days it had set a national record.
This video was livestreamed by Nanette Phillips-Smith as she drove away amid the smoke and falling ash.
Lytton has a population of 250, local reports said. Mayor Jan Polderman told CBC, “It’s dire. The whole town is on fire.”
