1:29Now PlayingHaiti's interim prime minister Claude Joseph declared a "state of siege" Wednesday after gunmen assassinated the country's president, Jovenel Moïse.
The president's wife Martine was also shot and taken to hospital, where her condition remained unclear.
They were attacked early Wednesday at their home in the capital Port-au-Prince.
Joseph pledged that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
There was no immediate word as to a motive for the killing.
