1:17Now PlayingNew Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced on Monday that the city of Auckland will stay under COVID-19 lockdown for at least another week.
The decision comes as the country recorded 33 new COVID cases on Sunday, all in Auckland, and all but one linked to existing known cases.
Ardern said authorities are worried about some mystery infections and warned the job to eliminate the virus is far from over.
New Zealand’s government has been attempting to eliminate the virus entirely in Auckland by imposing a lockdown, but it's finding the delta variant hard to stamp out.
About 54% of people in New Zealand have had at least one dose and 28% are fully vaccinated.
