1:55Now PlayingBritain's Queen Elizabeth II spoke at Holyrood in Edinburgh on Saturday at the opening of the Scottish Parliament following elections in May.
Speaking ahead of the First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and alongside the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay (A Scottish hereditary title of Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall), the Queen said the new session marked "a time for renewal and fresh thinking".
Her speech came ahead of Cop26, taking place in Glasgow in November, where the Queen said she would be attending events.
"The eyes of the world will be on the United Kingdom - and Scotland in particular - as leaders come together to address the challenges of climate change," she said.
Sturgeon used part of her speech to express condolences at the passing of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, and described the Queen as "a steadfast friend of our Parliament since its establishment in 1999."
She also said the parliament had "a momentous responsibility" in the wake of COVID, and said that "changes that we might previously have thought impossible or just too difficult can indeed be achieved".
