The café, home to two curious little raccoons, used to attract animal lovers, now it's a safe place for those who seek shelter from the bombardment.
Thanks to its thick walls and basement location the café has become a much more attractive shelter than underground parking lots or metro stations.
Kharkiv resident Ruslan Porokhovoi used to go to work at the Radio and Astronomy Institute during the week, but since the war started, he spends most of the time at the cafe.
The owner of the café, Marko Kolesnikov, and its manager Olga Zatsepilina, started preparing for the worst when rumours of a Russian invasion started circulating.
They bought extra fodder for raccoons and sleeping mattresses and pillows for people fleeing their houses.
By the third day of the war, they were hosting 23 people, but there are only seven left now as families from neighbouring houses abandoned the city, along with many other residents.
The raccoons themselves are sensitive to the changes around them.
They are "feeling that some sadness has come. They are not so active:"says Zatsepilina, her pets reflecting the mood of the city.
