as posted by the channelUkrainian forces said they had retaken control of a village near Kyiv which had fallen to the Russian military and destroyed several of their armoured vehicles, according to broadcaster Radio Free Europe.
Video showing the Ukrainian soldiers examining the damaged vehicles and discovering items thought to have been taken by the Russians during their occupation of the village was released.
"A mitten full of change. Is that why they came here?," said one Ukrainian soldier.
"Did they want to buy something or are these just trophies? I don't know. If you came here for coins and lose your leg here…," he added.
The highway was littered with damaged armoured vehicles which had come to a halt after being hit with different weaponry.
"We couldn't move forward because the Russian Army troops were quite skilled. We attacked them for a few days. On the third day, we managed to push the enemy out of the village," said one soldier to an RFE reporter.
"They try to move forward as much as they can. But they can't move forward, so they are retreating," added another.
Some of the vehicles contained ammunitions and the soldiers believed they may be able to repair a few of the vehicles to be used against the Russians in later conflict.
As the RFE crew captured the scene explosions could be heard off camera.
