3:43Now PlayingLa Hormiga Verde (The Green Ant) is a Spanish recycling and manufacturing company dedicated to the collection and management of electronic waste. From phones and computers to washers and solar panels, La Hormiga Verde recycles 99.5% of the roughly 1,200 metric tons of discarded items it collects each year. Although sales of components and raw materials are La Hormiga Verde’s main source of income, it also receives public subsidies as a registered special employment center: Of its 34 workers, 32 have some kind of disability.
