as posted by the channelUkrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Russian forces had damaged schools in overnight shelling of the Chernihiv region, calling Russia's commanders “simply sick” if there were willing to target educational facilities.
Zelenskiy said Moscow was also continuing to launch strikes into the Zaporizhzhia and Poltava regions, in particular targeting an oil refinery in the city of Kremenchuk.
While Russia persists in its offensive to take the industrial Donbas region, Ukrainian forces were able to recapture some towns and villages in the northeast.
Zelenskiy said Moscow "does not yet have courage" to acknowledge its "obvious" strategic defeat in the war to this point and urged Ukrainians to continue to fight to "free our land".
Noting Thursday was International Nurses Day, Zelenskiy thanked his country's nurses and other medical workers for their part in the fight.
He said since the invasion began on February 24, the Russian military had damaged 570 medical facilities, fully destroying 101 hospitals.
