YouTube Description
as posted by the channelHundreds of people continued to flee intense fighting in eastern Ukraine on Monday as Russian and Ukrainian forces battled for control of several key cities and villages in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
Dozens of Ukrainians left on a special evacuation train, departing from the city of Pokrovsk heading to Dnipro and other cities further west.
Mostly women, children and the elderly were aboard the train which was carrying about 200 people who were forced to leave as fighting encroached on their homes.
Emma from Sloviansk said she had fled, leaving her disabled husband behind.
"My husband is there, he cannot walk. I will see what the situation will be, maybe I will return," she said.
Sofia Domasheva, also from Sloviansk, said shells were landing indiscriminately and the children were scared.
"Everybody's nerves are on edge, everyone is afraid that a shell might hit a house," she said. "Nobody knows where it lands and that is why we made a decision to leave. It was a miracle that volunteers picked us up and helped us."
Most of the evacuees boarding the train in Prokovsk are from areas where Russian forces are concentrating their offensive to capture the Donbas region, including the cities of Sievierodonetsk, Sloviansk, Bakhmut, and Popasna.
