0:47Now PlayingFans gathered outside the gates of Kensington Palace on Wednesday to mark the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana's death.
A few fans of Diana arrived early at the gates of the palace to lay photos, flowers and a cake with her face on it.
"We just want her legacy kept going as long as possible," said Julie Cain, who came from Newcastle with her friends to pay tribute to "The People's Princess" - as she did 25 years ago.
On August 30, 1997, a group of paparazzi were camped outside the Hotel Ritz in Paris with the hope of getting shots of Diana and her new lover, Dodi Fayed.
After the couple left the hotel through a back entrance, they were pursued by photographers who followed them to the Pont de l'Alma tunnel where their driver lost control of the car and crashed.
Diana died about 3am at Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital at the age of 36.
Her death was followed by the outpouring of grief from members of the public who streamed to herhome at Kensington Palace day after day to mourn her loss.
