Staff at Number 10 Downing Street clapped and cheered outgoing Prime Minister Liz Truss on Tuesday morning as she departed the building.

Truss, who quit last week, delivered her last speech as British Prime Minister before handing over to Rishi Sunak.

She said she was "more convinced than ever" that the UK needs "bold" policy change and offered a defence of her low-tax economic vision and her brief term in office before being driven from the prime minister's official residence to Buckingham Palace.

Truss wished Sunak success as Britain continues "to battle through a storm.”
