0:47Now PlayingThe Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, today warned that the current escalation in the occupied West Bank “is very dangerous” and “all must ensure that the civilian population is protected, according to UNTV.
In a statement read by UN spokesperson Farhan Haq in New York, Wennesland said that during an Israeli military operation, which follows “months of mounting tensions,” eight Palestinians were killed “and several others wounded by Israeli Security Forces fire.”
Wennesland, Haq said, “has been in direct contact with all relevant parties to urgently de-escalate the situation and ensure humanitarian access and delivery of necessary medical and other supplies into Jenin.”
