Two of the biggest labor unions in Hollywood are now on strike, a once-in-a-generation cataclysm that has brought the entertainment business to a halt. This isn’t going to end any time soon. This labor stoppage is going to be measured in months, not weeks.
While the actors and studios made a real effort to seal a deal, they remain far apart. And now, they are digging in for a fight. The Screen Actors Guild says the studios’ offer was “insulting.” Disney CEO Bob Iger says the guilds are being “unrealistic.” You can disregard most of the quotes you read in the next few days. They are rhetoric and noise.
