Putin was speaking in an interview with China Media Group ahead of his visit to Beijing, where he will join the Belt and Road Initiative forum.

Speaking about bilateral trade, Putin noted the "very good" rise in trade growth between the two powers.
Speaking of the Belt and Road initiative, Putin said some might consider it China's move to "put someone under its thumb" but Russia viewed it as a "desire for cooperation."
