Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow believes trade turnover between Russia and China would reach the 200 billion-US dollar mark by the end of the year.

Putin was speaking in an interview with China Media Group ahead of his visit to Beijing, where he will join the Belt and Road Initiative forum.

The full version of the interview was released on Monday.

Speaking about bilateral trade, Putin noted the "very good" rise in trade growth between the two powers.

Speaking of the Belt and Road initiative, Putin said some might consider it China's move to "put someone under its thumb" but Russia viewed it as a "desire for cooperation."
