0:56Now PlayingLas Vegas hosted its first Formula 1 grand prix in 40 years, putting on a bustling array of over-the-top offerings for a weekend of partying with celebrities and major brands up and down the Strip.
The street race drew more than 300,000 people over its four-night stay, as the cars blasted down Las Vegas Boulevard at over 200 miles per hour. Organizers said the economic impact for the area, already one of the nation’s largest tourist economies, amounted to about $1.2 billion.
The city’s substantial hospitality industry came out in full force, attracting celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sofia Vergara and Justin Bieber to its nightclubs, invite-only events and custom-built venues created just for race week. The paddock at the track hosted the likes of Brad Pitt, Lupita Nyong’o and Rihanna.
