The United States Department of Defense confirmed the “additional security assistance” package, valued at $200 million and accessed via the Presidential Drawdown Authority.
“Congress needs to pass supplemental funding for Ukraine before they break for the holiday recess. Before they give Putin the greatest Christmas gift they could possibly give him,” Biden said. Zelensky said Ukraine’s priorities included depriving Russia of its “air superiority and thwarting its offensive operations.” “People need to be confident that freedom is secure and strong enough to win,” he said in the video.
