The Pope particularly opposed “lethal autonomous weapons” and called for a ban on them, calling for greater human control. “No machine should ever choose whether to take someone’s life.” He added that politics played a key role in prioritizing long-term decision making and that it was its responsibility to create the right conditions for AI to help human kind.
