That’s why Tuesday’s presidential debate will be Kamala Harris’ biggest political test yet. Americans are still learning about the sitting vice president. And for the small but crucial fraction of undecided voters, the debate will likely be the only venue where they can see their options side-by-side (excluding the slim chance that the campaigns agree to a sequel).
Advisers to both candidates say style and presentation — more than policies and plans — will be how most voters assess the candidates, Bloomberg’s Nancy Cook reports. That’s partly reflected in the decision by Trump’s campaign to insist the candidates’ microphones are muted when it’s not their turn to speak — part of the rules agreed to when President Joe Biden was the Democratic candidate.
