Biden Steps Up Response to Hurricane Milton

President Joe #Biden said he is postponing a planned trip to #Germany and #Angola to focus on the response to #Hurricane #Milton which is approaching #Florida “This could be the worst storm to hit Florida in over a century,” Biden said Tuesday at the White House. Asked about the threat of #misinformation over the response to the storm, Biden said “those who do it do it to try to damage the administration,” and he called it “un-American.”

Milton is on track to deal a devastating blow to Florida’s vibrant #TampaBay region, potentially delivering the first direct hit from a hurricane in a century just as residents and businesses were beginning to pick up the pieces from #Helene. The area, which includes the cities of #Tampa #StPetersburg and Clearwater, is home to more than 3 million people, a major US military base, Florida’s largest port, beaches that attract tens of millions of tourists a year and a state university with nearly 50,000 students.
