YouTube Description
as posted by the channelThe fire started Tuesday morning in the Pacific Palisades, an enclave in western Los Angeles nestled between Malibu and Santa Monica, where the median home sells for $3.4 million. Fierce Santa Ana winds and brittle dry brush fed the flames, stirring a conflagration that remains out of control and continues to spread.
By mid-morning Wednesday, a dull orange sun burned through the dense black smoke that drifted across the second-largest US city. Ash coated parked cars and embers danced ahead of the fire front, setting buildings and foliage ablaze.
The most destructive wind storm to strike the Los Angeles area in 14 years is fanning wildfires that have killed two people, scorched homes and sent thousands of residents fleeing for their lives, with dangerous gusts expected to persist for at least another two days.
Hurricane-force winds have torn through the region, pushing flames through high-priced neighborhoods and hampering efforts of firefighters who have flocked to blazes that are currently burning out of control. The largest — known as the Palisades Fire — roared across 5,000 acres (2,023 hectares) just west of Santa Monica early Wednesday, destroying 1,000 structures.
