Netanyahu, in a statement early Friday, said he ordered his cabinet to meet to approve the truce, which has been backed by US President Joe Biden and incoming leader Donald Trump.
The security cabinet started meeting late morning Israel time. The first release of hostages is expected on Sunday, Netanyahu’s office said, pending the full cabinet’s approval of the deal.
