0:42Now PlayingNegotiations to end Russia's war in Ukraine shouldn't take place "behind the backs of" the parties involved, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Tuesday, shortly after officials from Russia and the U.S. announced plans to work together to end the conflict.
"It is critical that any negotiations to end the war are not happening behind the backs of the key parties affected by the Russian aggression," Zelenskyy said at a briefing in Ankara alongside Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Russia and the U.S. agreed to start working towards ending the war in Ukraine and improving their diplomatic and economic ties, America's top diplomat said after talks that reflected an extraordinary about-face in U.S. foreign policy under President Donald Trump.
