Dodik, who leads the Serb-run half of Bosnia, has repeatedly called for the separation of the territory from the rest of Bosnia, fueling fears of instability. The recent Bosnian Serb moves are seen as part of escalating efforts and have been condemned by the United States and the European Union.
Dodik, who has faced U.S. and Bristish sanctions, is backed by Moscow. A Bosnian court said last week it was seeking an international arrest warrant for Dodik, who is facing legal action for his policies. The latest tensions have raised fears of violent incidents between Bosnia’s central security forces and the Serb police.
