1:03Now PlayingEli Lilly & Co. and Novo Nordisk A/S secured deals with the Trump administration to slash prices for their weight-loss drugs in exchange for tariff relief and wider access for Medicare patients.
The companies' products will receive a three-year grace period from Trump's forthcoming duties on pharmaceutical imports and will be available to certain people on Medicare at a lower cost, with a co-pay of $50 per month.
The drugs will be available at a lower cost, with prices such as $245 a month for Zepbound and Wegovy for Medicare and Medicaid patients, and $299 a month for the lowest dose of Lilly's shot, compared to current US list prices of more than $1,000 a month.
