“We want to see Syria be successful along with the rest of the Middle East,” Trump told reporters at the White House later on Monday. He called Sharaa a “very strong leader” who comes from a “tough place” and said “I have confidence he’ll be able to do the job.”
Trump said further announcements regarding Syria were forthcoming, without providing details.
