Trump signaled a willingness to expand his military campaign in Latin America to include possible strikes in Venezuela, Colombia and Mexico as he complained about the flow of drugs and migrants into the US.
The US president has in recent days ordered more naval assets to the Caribbean following a series of deadly strikes against boats the Pentagon has accused of trafficking drugs. That has fueled speculation that Trump could be readying military action targeting Venezuela’s Nicolás Maduro — and concerns within Washington that he could expand the military conflict without congressional authorization.
