0:59Now PlayingPresident Donald Trump said Tuesday as a result of his tariffs, his administration will be giving back tax refunds and dividends to the American people in 2026.
"Next year is projected to be the largest tax refund season ever, and we're gonna be giving back refunds out of the tariffs because we've taken in literally trillions of dollars, and we're gonna be giving a nice dividend to the people, in addition to reducing debt," Trump said.
It’s not clear how that would work or if Trump could afford to do so without worsening the national debt, which he claims his tariffs will also cut.
