as posted by the channel

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Qatar's capital Doha on Thursday as part of a Middle East tour that also includes Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Merz vowed to relax military export restrictions to entice more business from Gulf countries like Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Merz said individual case reviews will remain in place, and that the relaxation of restrictions "does not mean that we will now deliver all military equipment to all countries completely unchecked."

Merz is also eager to strengthen Gulf ties on energy, and has been accompanied on the trip by a business delegation including defense contractors and an energy firm.
